0900 depart your hotel in Miri and proceed to the Grand Old Lady at Canada Hill where the first oil rig in Malaysia was found and it is also the site to view Miri town and beyond. Continue the trip toward the coastal road to see Miri as a town thriving on the petroleum industry. Visit a Taoist Temple, regarded as the largest in South East Asia. Drop by the market place to see the locals selling jungle produce, wild fruits, handicraft and many other things unique to Sarawak.
 
LAMBIR HILLS NATIONAL PARK
Full Day Longhouse / Lambir Hills
Morning, depart your hotel for 1 hour and 45 mins drive to Lambir Hill National Park where you can take a leisurely walk under the dense canopy of the tropical rainforest. Feel the immense rainforest with numerous species of plants and vegetation.
Certain species of birds, insects and animals may be sighted. Continue your walk and reach a big waterfall of 100ft high and this is where you can admire the nature of the rainforest, swim and relax. Return to your hotel.
What to bring : Insect repellent, sun block lotion, towel and drinking water. Use good walking shoes. Comfortable cotton T-shirt with long or short pant recommended.
 
BAKAM VILLAGE
Afternoon, depart your hotel and take a leisurely 30 minutes drive through beautiful and traditional homes along the coastline of Miri to Bakam village where most of its people go out to the sea to earn their livelihood. It is also the home to the Malays of Sarawak, where they are living a simple and stress free lives beside the sea and beautiful beach. A place to really get disconnected from the hustle and bustle of city life. Make a brief visit to one of the oldest cemetery ground in Miri and know some of the cultures of the locals. Stroll along the beautiful beaches, village houses and occasionally see the village people coming back from the sea. This is also one of the best areas to see the sunset (weather permitting). Depart back to hotel.

You will be greeted by colourful dancers in their traditional costume with exotic traditional music from the gongs and drums. The chief of the longhouses will invite you to tour the longhouse and see their communal living quarters. Take a walk to their farm of rice fields, fruit orchard and jungle where they may get jungle vegetables for food or just observe how the Iban attend to their daily chores.

A 45 minutes walk on a raised plank-walk (4km long) which snakes through a lush rainforest to reach the Niah Cave entrance. Explore this famous cave system, archaeological sites and primitive hematite paintings on the walls. Observe the bewildering and dangerous manoeuvres of bird-nest collectors climbing flimsy scaffoldings and wooden poles to reach the dark crevasses of the caves to collect the nest during the harvesting season. After lunch, return to Miri.
